Puppet Construction WSL/TTL/BL-Z
Designing and crafting puppets using various techniques and materials. The design process includes basic technical drawing necessary
for creating projects on a 1:1 scale.
Sculpting in styrofoam, styrodur, and wood.
Clay modeling and making plaster casts.
Creating armatures on molds and in negatives. Making full and hollow heads using butafory technique.
Cutting puppet forms from foam. Exploring the use of different materials and their combinations.
Practical learning of puppetry techniques from project design to creating three-dimensional puppet forms in selected techniques.
Over 4 semesters, students design and create: hand puppets, rod puppets, tabletop puppets, and character puppets (muppets).
In exceptional cases, expanding student skills to include building puppets such as street puppets, marionettes (string puppet), etc.
