Basics of Art of Animation WSL/RTL/1/PSA-L
Semester I
1. Exploration of using body parts (e.g., hands) as: characters, symbols, or artistic material;
2. Exploration of new forms of expression allowing for personal experiences in animation;
3. Animation exercises: eye contact, thoughts and emotions, rhythm and changes in rhythm as expressions of emotions and themes, posing as an expression of emotional states, etc.
4. Creating etudes based on improvisation on given themes
5. Various functions of the animator and ways of coexistence of form and operator
6. Creating collective etudes
7. Initial attempts at directing an actor within an original etude
Semester II
1. Plastic form as a starting point for the scenic discourse;
2. Topic as a starting point for creating an etude, selecting an appropriate artistic form for the etude's theme
3. Constructing the dramaturgy of the etude and creating a short stage statement
4. Creation of a short directorial etude using a selected visual form;

Assessment criteria
The passing requirement includes a positive evaluation of participation during classes, preparation level, engagement
in exercises performed during classes, progress in developing animation skills, and understanding the specifics of working with
plastic form. The final assessment will also consider the ability to work in a group and apply basic professional ethics in the
director's work.
The requirement for passing is attendance at a minimum of 50% of the classes.
I semester – credit without a mark (non-graded pass)
