Polish National Dances WSL/ATL/PLTanNar-Z
1. Basic information about selected Polish national dances (Krakowiak, Polonaise, Oberek).
2. Preparatory exercises including: hops, jumps, turns, polka steps, various types of endings, accents, and stamping steps.
3. Stage compositions of the Polonaise and Krakowiak.
4. Group and individual creation of short dance combinations.
Krakowiak:
-Basic steps: cwał (gallop), kulawy (limping step), krok konikowy (pony step)
-Figures: kasza, młynek (little mill), krzesany, hołubce
-Partner holds and formations
Polonaise:
-Basic step
-Pair figures (as selected by the instructor)
-Pattern figures (floor patterns)
-Partner holds and formations
-Partner passing in front of the lady
Oberek:
-Basic step performed forward, backward, and with turns
-Various types of stamping steps (przytupy)
-Partner holds and formations

Learning outcomes
1. Knowledge
a. K_W03 – Has knowledge in the field of Polish national dances that enables stage performance with an awareness of the historical context.
b. K_W05 – Possesses knowledge of technical and artistic tools related to Polish national dance sufficient for the implementation of personal artistic projects.
2. Skills
a. K_U05 – Acts in the interest of the group, also taking on a leading role; strives to reach consensus in shaping a shared artistic vision for the dance performance.
b. K_U07 – Applies steps and figures of Polish national dances in a way that ensures physical safety and prevents injury.
3. Social Competences
a. K_K03 – Combines acquired knowledge and skills in Polish national dances, using them in the creation of comprehensive artistic projects as well as in organizing the learning process for others.
Assessment criteria
1. Preparation for classes
2. Engagement during classes
3. Preparation for assessments in dance steps and figures (2 times per semester)
4. Level of choreography mastery at the end of the semester (2 short choreographic forms)
Ad 1.
Preparation for classes includes basic mastery of material related to dance technique and choreography from previous sessions, as well as attendance in appropriate dancewear:
Leotard, fitted top, or close-fitting T-shirt
Short- or long-sleeved T-shirt or a fitted sweatshirt
Sweatpants or a flared skirt below the knee
Character shoes or jazz shoes
Lack of appropriate attire is treated as unpreparedness for class and excludes the student from active participation.
Ad 2.
Engagement in the development of one's movement skills and physical fitness, including: body awareness, flexibility, coordination, strength, and endurance.
Ad 3.
Level of mastery of the assigned and practiced material (dance steps and figures) within a specific time frame. The material scope is provided at least two weeks prior to the assessment.
Ad 4.
Ability to perform and individually interpret a choreographic sequence.
