Performative activities WSL/ATL/DP-L
In the first stage, students will share their previous experiences, observations, and doubts regarding performance art in Poland and around the world. An introductory seminar will also be held, during which students will be introduced to the history, transformation processes, and characteristics of contemporary performative practices. An important element of the seminar sessions will also be discussions about the performative aspects of everyday and public life. The starting point for these discussions will be selected readings from broadly understood humanities. The meetings will serve as a forum for exchanging ideas and reflections, and as a space for building original conceptual frameworks.
The next stage of the course involves students attempting to carry out their own performative actions (or installations), either individually or in groups of any size.
These original performative statements will serve as a basis for deeper analysis of the nature of performance and identification of the stages of both preparation and performance itself. As part of the ongoing seminar format, students will reflect on and verify their insights.
In the second semester, the focus will shift to exploring the combination of various performing arts with performance. Students will attempt to create original stage actions (individually or in groups of any size) incorporating elements of performative practices (based on their first-semester experiences) or featuring characteristics of performance. The seminar sessions will continue, providing everyone with an opportunity to share their observations and thoughts on the integration of performative arts in a significantly expanded understanding of the term.
